My child seems to have stains on the teeth, what can I do?

The tooth discoloration problems in children can be divided into:

  • Inborn yellowish teeth
  • Teeth stains
  • Black spots caused by tooth decay

Yellow discoloration of teeth can be due to inborn yellowish teeth and not because of poor dental hygiene. To know more about this, you can consult your dentist.

For the yellow and black teeth stains, they are usually precipitation of pigments on the surface of the teeth. They can be removed by scaling. If the expectant mother takes tetracycline during pregnancy, the teeth of the baby may turn grey in colour. If you want to learn more, you can talk to your dentist. For the black spots on the teeth, it can be due to either tooth decay or teeth stains. They needed to be checked by dentist before proper diagnosis can be made.
