Family Planning

Family planning services are provided to all women of childbearing age in Maternal & Child Health Centres (MCHCs) to enable them to decide freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children. Contraceptive methods such as condom, contraceptive pill, hormonal injection, intrauterine device and emergency contraception are prescribed according to individual needs. Counselling and referral can be arranged for women who request sterilisation, termination of pregnancy or with subfertility problems. The emergency contraceptive service is provided during the opening hours in all MCHCs. For women in need of emergency contraceptive service outside MCHCs’ opening hours, they may attend the Accident & Emergency Department of the Hospital Authority, the Family Planning Association of Hong Kong or private hospitals/clinics.
